Float, sink, dissolve, absorb

My son was giving me a hard time getting into the tub to get a shower. So I made it into a fun activity. We played Float, sink, dissolve, absorb. We made him into a scientist again.  I gave him whatever I found in the bathroom and he had a great time. While he was learning, I was able to give him a bath too. Win - win :-)

After this we made this into an activity and he loves to try new things to see if they sink or float. Now I added a few more things to teach him that they can dissolve and absorb too.

Things needed for this activity:
-large bowl
-water
-pebbles
-shells
-paper
-leaves
-flowers
-cotton,
-food color
-sugar
-salt
-cut up straws

Now get a large bowl of water and have them experiment with different objects.
